Will P-touch Editor, Stamp Editor and printer drivers work with Windows XP? (2001.11.06)

 

A.

P-touch Editor Ver.3.1, P-touch Editor Ver. 3.0, Stamp Editor Ver. 3.0, Stamp Editor Express.
We have tested the editor programs in Windows XP and found they work fine.

Printer drivers for Windows 2000
Serial connection: PT-9200DX, PT-PC (Version 3.x -web only), PT-9200PC, PT-2500PC, PT-2400/2410(USA), SC-2000, SC-900
The Windows 2000 serial printer drivers for above models work fine in Windows XP.

USB connection: PT-9200DX
The latest version USB printer driver (version 3.31) works fine in Windows XP. Please download the latest printer driver from the software download page.

Parallel connection: SC-2000
The Windows 2000 printer driver works fine in Windows XP.

*We can not support P-touch Editor Ver. 1.x/ 2.x and Printer driver Ver 1.x/2.x

Will Stamp Editor and printer driver work with Windows XP? (2001.11.06)

Stamp Editor Ver. 3.0, Stamp Editor Express.
All applications above work fine in Windows XP.

The Windows 2000 serial printer driver works fine in Windows XP.

Parallel connection:
The Windows 2000 parallel printer driver works fine in Windows XP.

 

Q.

Will Stamp Editor and printer drivers work with Mac OS X? (2001.04.28)

 

A.

Since Mac OS X itself does NOT support serial interface, the SC-2000 does not work under Mac OS X.
Although there are third party companies such as KEYSPAN that make USB-serial converters, the SC-2000 does not work with these devices in Mac OS X.
The SC-2000 can be used with Mac OS 9.1 or earlier versions. We do not recommend upgrading to Mac OS X.

 

Q.

Will Stamp Editor 3.0 and printer drivers work with Windows Me? (2000.10.20)

 

A.

Stamp Editor 3.0 and printer drivers work fine on Windows Me.
However, if you choose to uninstall the Stamp Editor, the following message will appear: Do you want to delete DAO files?
Choose "No" and un-installation will be done correctly. Even though these files are still in your PC, they are not longer active and will cause no problem for your PC operation.
If you choose "Yes", it may cause your PC to lock up. To resolve this, restart your PC. The P-touch Editor will be uninstalled and all other applications will be fine.

 

Q.

The editor software (version 3.0) freezes after closing the print preview screen. (2000.09.25)

 

A.

Download the current editor software from Brother Web site. Install it following the prompts on your computer screen.

 

Q.

I am not able to install the editor software on my Windows NT computer. (2000.09.25)

 

A.

The following are the requirements for running the editor software in Windows NT.

1. Windows NT4.0 with service pack 3 + Microsoft's patch module
2. Windows NT4.0 with service pack 4 or higher

Please get the appropriate service pack and/or the patch module from Microsoft's web site.

 

Q.

The printer driver for Win95/98/NT4.0 was installed but I am not able to click the button for selecting the proper printer in the Printer Selection menu. (2000.09.25)

 

A.

After downloading the driver, doubleclick on drvsetup.exe to install the driver. Follow the instructions that appear on the computer screen. Do not use the Window's feature of "ADD PRINTER" to install the driver.

 

Q.

I downloaded the editor software from Brother web site but the editor will not open or I am unable to print. (Can not find a printer driver.) (2000.09.25)

 

A.

If appropriate printer driver is not installed in your computer simultaneously, the editor may not open or you may not be able to print. Both the editor software and printer driver must be download and installed on the computer for the P-Touch/StampCreator to work properly. Download and install the printer driver and restart the editor software.

 

Q.

A communication error occurs when trying to print from your computer.(2000.09.25)

 

A.

Make sure that the interface cable is properly connected. Disconnect and reconnect the supplied interface cable to your P-Touch/StampCreator and your computer.
Data transmission communication errors can occur when using other interface cables.
Make sure that PTCOM#(dedicated COM port for P-touch) is selected as the printer port. You can verify and change the selection of the printer port in the printer driver Properties window.

Make sure that the COM port is active. On some computers, COM ports are assigned to IrDA (Infrared Data Association) or modems as the factory setting.
For assistance in changing the computer's COM port setting, refer to the instruction manual for your computer or consult the computer manufacturer.
On computers with, only 1 serial port, the COM port number is usually "2". Make sure that COM port number corresponds to the port where the P-touch/StampCreator is connected.

[Windows 95/98,NT4.0]

Open[Control Panel] - Select[System] - Click [Device Manager]Tab -Select [Port(COM/LPT)]Make sure that COM port does not show an error status.
Make sure the COM port number (COM1,COM2, etc) corresponds to the port where the P-touch/StampCreator is connected. If Com port shows an error status, refer to the instruction manual for your computer or consult the computer manufacturer.

[Windows2000]

Open[Control Panel] - Select[System] - Click [Hardware]Tab -Click[Device Manager] - Select [Port(COM/LPT)]Make sure that COM port does not show an error status.
Make sure the COM port number (COM1,COM2, etc) corresponds to the port where the P-touch/StampCreator is connected. If Com port shows an error status, refer to the instruction manual for your computer or consult the computer manufacturer.
